Default GT40P Heads & Intake with TFS1 Cam, Will I Need a Tune??

1989 Mustang 5.0 LX, AOD, I will have bbk shorty headers, gt40P heads and explorer intake manifold, TFS1 cam, 1.6 RR's, lightly milled heads, 24lb injectors with a MAF thats calibrated for 24lb injectors, will I need a dyno tune from a professional or will the calibrated maf do all the "tuning" for me??? Thanks

You should not need a tune, the 89-93's are wonderfully adaptible to modifications.

Your car wont need a dyno tune, but someone could burn you a base map. I would strongly advise against the calibrated maf. You will actually see better results if you had someone (like myself) burn you a chip that would account for the actual changes you have made to the car.

^What does that cost cause this is a buget build for me and if its too much for just a few HP I will prob stay with the cal maf for now.

And another question - Do the maf's on these cars control the fuel even in open loop?

Your maf is in control of your fueling at ALL times, with the exception of when you are cranking the car.

And the chip with tune is $135 shipped

you CAN, but I would prefer to see a 70mm SN-95 maf in your car.
