Cruise control help
Ok, so on the interstate going 75 miles an hour in 5th gear, the cruise control is great, but in other gears, its not so great.
There are several stretches of empty roads around my area that the cops love to frequent, to bust people marginally breaking the speed limit where it doesn't matter in the least because they are the ONLY car on the road for miles.
So I want to use cruise in 4th gear at 45 mph so that my foot doesn't keep gradually bumping my speed up on its own... So I set the CC and the car seems like its giving it lots of gas until it hits 46 or so, and then no gas at all to coast back down to 44. Really annoying, because it feels like I'm in a boat riding over waves or something. My foot can give it a straight amount of gas to maintain exactly 45 (when I concentrate on it), but the computer can't seem to do that. Is this normal?

How is this stuff controlled? Is it all hooked up to the brain, or is it a stand-alone system that takes readings from the speedo and TPS or something? Is there a newer, smarter CC unit that can go in, or is it a lost cause? I guess if it goes through the brain, I'm finished before I even started, but I don't like to give up on anything without being sure I can't win. LOL
