Default e303 timing

So i finaly got around to putting in this e303 i had into my 88 stock heads an valvetrain cobraintake 65mm throttle body - so far it sounds great but i had to bump the timing up a lot to get torque or be able to burnout...is it common to have to advance the timing a lot after upgrading cam?

did you upgrade springs?? either way adding a cam to stock heads usually results no net gain and sometimes a loss

mods should be able to lock threads after giving the only reasonable answer.

Yeah sorry i know u guys get the same questions over an over there really should be a better way to orginize some common threads..an yeah i shouldve done more research of old posts i got a definet answer to my question...thanks : ) uh just to keep this thread a live bit longer what would u guys advise in choice of heads..of course hp gain is main concern but price is of course an issue for everyone so guess u could say im shoppin for the most bang for the buck..i usually go latemodelresto, cjsponyparts or american muscle for my parts ebay every now an then but id deffinetly be interested in some ideas for what heads should do good with my setup....... still fresh rebuild maybe 10k on it stock except borred out bottom end, stock heads, got the e303, cobra upper/lower, 65mm throttlebody, cold air, electric fans, bbk adj fpr, smog/ac/powersteering delete honestly thats it for actual engine mods that arent aesthetic changes... any ideas on a set of heads that would compliment these mods?

What's a good spring to upgrade to if, umm... purely hypothetically, of course... one put GT40 heads onto a stock bottom end with a mild cam, and wants to uhh... take the heads back off and have them ported?

The FMS spring kit with proper retainers and locks is $222. I have a set in my garage.
