Seat won't stay in position

Seat won't stay in position
Hi all! Hope everyone had a great week! New question for ya'll... On my '87 driver seat I can put my seat in the position I want but when I lean back it pops farther back. The only thing I can think of is the hand lever on the side won't lift up so maybe that has something to do with it??? Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance! ~Q
