Default Plenum Gasket

My plenum gasket was bad when I got the car, so I decided to start the work on this car by changing that. I picked up a Haynes manuel, and it helped a little bit. I got the upper intake off and now I got the old gasket off. I have a brand new one, but my question is, is there a sealent im supposed to put on the gasket when I put it on? It seems like there should be some gasket sealent or something, but I don't know. Pretty new to engine work, so don't be too harsh

if your only changing the gasket between the upper and lower, then no, there is no need for silicone. the gasket will be fine

I would definately not use any silicone or anything like that. I have seen gasket adhesive used. this is a thin spray that holds gasket in place when you're mounting the top piece.
