nitto 555
I just got a set of chrome cobra r's and had them mounted on 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/17 in the rear nitto 555's. i'm just wondering if anyone else has these tires and how they like them. Are they good in the rain or on windy roads give me your opinion about these tires.

RE: nitto 555
did you get the 555r's or the regular 555's?
the "r" tire is a drag tire, so really its not that good on a wet road, but it's doable. just take it easy through the turns.

Ive got the drag radials on my 91 coupe and I have to launch at 4grand or they bit and I bog. They are better then I expected in the rain. So far I love them

RE: nitto 555
just don't put the drag radials on the front
the regulars probably compare to a mid grade tire from any other tire manufacturer.

I run the 555r's and I was surprised how well they worked in the rain. Like it was said before no hard/fast driving, but regular driving seemed fine to me.

The ride is no better or worse than some of the other tires I've used. I like the sidewalls which protect the rims and are easy to shine with tire gloss

RE: nitto 555
I've got the 555 (street tires) on my car. I think the ride is a little softer than the stock goodyears, but the grip is about the same. those tires will last forever. you should be able to get 50000 miles out of them with normal driving. I've put 15K miles on mine with many many burnouts and the tread looks like new.
