Default timing

alright guys so heres the problem. ive came here before and yall were alot of help....dont fail me now! ive got a 95 5.0 and i recently took apart the top end for a blown head gasket, put it back together and got it runnin...barely. it was miss firing like crazy.turn out the rotor was 180 off, fixed it, then eyeball timed it around 10 degrees. It ran fairly good, rough, but i could rev it a little and it sounded good. i had to replace the distributor o-ring because it was bad, and now, it will beraly....barely idle. its not getting gas when i push the throttle it diesw down like im chocking it. any help would be great........Also when you do time it do I put it at 0 degrees or 10 degrees. also when it does idle it idles very very low, can i put a timing light on it or should it idle good first? I no alot, but any help is great.

When you set the timing one these engines the harmonic balancer needs to be at 0 tdc . When you stab the dizzy into the block it should have a cast mark in the dizzy

To verify base timing is at 10 you need a timing light and you need to remove the spout. This is the plug that disables the computer timing.

These engines use the dizzy to control the timing on the injectors as well It sounds as if you have the dizzy far to advanced or retarded.

You should have the rotor pointing to the #1 plug wire position . As you drop the dizzy in you may need to rotate the shaft to keep it all lined up. That notch in the dizzy and block shold line up with the rotor pointing directly at the #1 position. then your can advance it to the 10* btdc
