Default AOD question

A little help if you please. Still working on getting my 5.0 H.O. and AOD swap into my '68 coupe completed and I am oh so close! I am using the stock '68 shifter with the AOD so I had to swap the shift lever that goes into the side of the tranny and also attaches to the shifter linkage. My questions are below. I've had this apart for awhile and don't remember exactly how it looked when I took the pan off.....and the pictures I took at the time are too blurry.

Does the rod that I'm pointing at in this picture......

Fit in the slot that I'm pointing at in THIS picture:

Or is is correct as it is?

Here is another pic:

Any help, guidance or PICTURES would be greatly appreciated and I would be forever in your debt......I can't seem to find any pictures of what this is supposed to look like.

I would assume it goes in the slot that your pointing to in the second picture so that it can move the shifter back and forth.

I'm pretty sure it goes in that slot. I tore down a 4r70w (similar transmission) back in April and if I remember right that's how it goes.
