Default Oiling System Issues

In the process of installing the oiling system. I'm using an M83 standard oil pump and Ford Racing 7 qt pan. The problem I'm having is the pickup bolt holes do not line up with the pump's bolt holes when the tab is placed over the main stud.

If I move the pickup tab off of the stud, I can get the bolt holes to line up.

Basically I'm going to need to do a little modifying and slot a bolt hole. My question is if it would be better to slot the pickup tab or where the pump & pickup connect?

While I'm at it, the stud seen in that pic is from ARP. You can see the added thread at the top for the pickup tab. That extra thread is hitting the pan. I'm about to just throw this 5 qt pan back on and call it a day, just don't want to suck the pan dry.

Id slot the tab. Its going to have a jamb nut on it any ways right?

Plus its a lot easier to slot that thinner tab then the flange on the pick up tube.

Just out of curiosity once that tab is over the stud , you cant flex that tube enough to go into place?

Good question, didnt try. I didnt want to put strain on it and then bolt it down. Thats sounds like a better plan though

Yea its only off by about an 1/8 of an inch by the looks of it. Id say its probly pretty common to have to push it over a bit.

Welp, that didn't work lol. That tube was not gonna bend that much. I grinded away at the tab, sits a lot closer:

But, still not enough:

That pic has the lower bolt holding it in place. Whoever welded this thing did a sh*t *** job of it. I'm afraid I'm going to run out of tab before I can get it to line up. I'm going to have to grind the other direction as well, as that pic I didn't have the other jam nut on the bottom side to keep it from moving/vibrating.

is it possible to use a tubing bender to adjust it slightly? I thought that tube was pretty hard.. I wouldn't think you would have to much issue if you have to slot the side connecting to the pump, its a pretty sturdy piece to bolt too... although it may be tough to do.

I used a torch and heated up the weld where the pickup connects to the pump. Looks like its going to fit now.
