Default need help

I'm buying an 82 mustang. Its a 5.0 litre but has no engine or tranny. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what kind of engine and tranny I should put in it and where I can buy them. Not looking for anything fancy just something I can build up. I can spend around $600 on each.

I'd grab the whole engine, tranny, drive shaft and rear end out of a later model fox body.
