Default speedometer Question

I have a sn95 GT 5.0 5speed, I replaced my rear 3.08 gears with a set of a 3.73. and of course that made my speedometer of about 8-10mph. I just bought and put in the new speedo gear in the trans. My speedometer is still off about 8-10mph. im new to replacing some of this.. I did notice that there is No speedo cable, only the eletrical part hooked to the part that goes into the trans. Was wondering if im going to have to have the comp reprogrammed or if im missing something. please help.. thx
