Exclamation powersteering delete help.

over the winter and summer so far i did an engine bay shave/wire tuck. came out decent if i do say so my self. but having trouble with my belt set up. no ac or power steering. was wondering two things.
# 1. would running the water pump backwards cause overheating and cooling failure. was thinking of getting this belt kit. don't know why they would make it if it wouldn't work in the first place considering the crank turns clockwise and the water pump is suppose to turn counter clockwise.http://www.jegs.com/i/Procomp-Electr...oductId=764127

#2. getting a belt thats just the right size so that when i get it on its tight enough to run the water pump and alternator with out a tensioner considering that way the set up is and how the tensioner operates would not allow me to use it. only thing is with this idea is that the belt wouldn't wrap around the water pump like it use to. it would still catch it though if it was tight enough.

please help and let me know is there are any other alternatives. sorry for the novel. just want to give all the details

Yes, running the pump backwards will cause overheating issues

I don’t know what the “best” solution is, but as others have stated running the water pump backwards will cause overheating issues. Also, if you delete the belt tensioner you’ll also have problems. Belts stretch, especially as they warm up and/or get old, so you need something to keep tension on it. An adjustable alternator mount might help their, but you’ll be adjusting it on a regular basis, and run the risk of making it too loose or too tight which will cause strange problems/sounds.

Good luck...

You could always find a standard rotation pump and use the kit you linked to. I think I remember the older Lincoln towncar with the 5.0 runs a standard right?
