This is a old dad with a 95 gt 5.0 car sat up for several years.complete motor rebuild. I have changed tps iacv temp sensor if you don't put your foot in it idels fine.If you get on it (not real hard) it wount drop back below 2000 it will eventually does drop to 700.Anyone that has a idea please respond.

 

So the idle will hang at 2000 rpm then drop to 700 when you come to a stop. How long does it hang at 2k? And is this a manual or auto?

 

Mine did the same exact thing , it took me several attempts to relearn the base idle . A lot of tinkering with the throttle body and tps but I finally got it to idle correctly.

 

It holdes long enough to make you look like a dummy at a stop sigh. I have ajusted on the base idel and it is a 5 speed std.Are you droping the base idel and how much movement on the tps.Thanks

 

I have taken throttle body off cleaned all of it,along with the base idel bolt. Pluged off the vacuum line that controles all the switches under the fender well. Backed off the acc. stop,and screwed the base idle all the way down. Also disconected battery.Still only if you gas on it holds at 2500 untill it decides to drop. Which by the way it always drops before I stop to open the hood !!!

 

If I unplug the IACV it runs fine and check engine does not come on. Ok guy's some imput please.
