Default 95 GT 302 - GT40P UPGRADE-RUNNING LEAN!

JUST GOT DONE THIS SETUP AND ON START-UP IT IS RUNNING REAL LEAN. KNOW THIS FROM LOOKING AT THE PLUGS AND THE HEADERS WERE GETTING REAL HOT (ENGINE TEMP ITSELF WAS OK).

IS THERE ANYTHING I’M MISSING THAT I NEED TO DO, TO RUN THIS SETUP? DO YOU NEED TO TUNE IT? I DIDN’T THINK YOU NEEDED TO.

GT40P HEADS (W/ TFS SPRING KIT) & INTAKE
E303 CAM
TFS TB ELBOW ADAPTER
STOCK MUSTANG TB, MAF AND 19LB INJECTORS
.030 BLOCK
NO EGR, SMOG OR AC
BBK HEADERS & CATLESS H-PIPE

NO CHIP ORCOMPUTER CHANGES

Whats the temp of the headers? Headers are supposed to be hot. Looking at spark plugs isn't the most scientific way to tell if your running lean. Do you have a check engine light? Did you pull codes? Your injectors should be able to handle that set up. Need more info.

Also, WHY ARE YOU YELLING ??? Turn the caps off lol.

Good advice stated above. We need more info like "headers are glowing cherry red at idle" or "my spark plugs melted" lol

Just teasing, about the spark plugs anyway.

no cats. new 02 sensors. this only has 2 O2 sensors (pre-cats). worked well before pulled motor.
and headers were getting red so i shut it down. they were HOT!
did not pull codes because i didnt run it very long, 5 min. figured it was something wrong with my new setup.

Verify fuel pressure, how old is the fuel filter? It's odd that it be that lean at idle on a cold start. I'd still pull codes, then reset, then pull again after you let it get up to temp again.

Also, verify timing. I mean by actually finding TDC on #1 cyl. and verifying timing marks on balancer. Then set timing to 10'.

check timing and vaccum leak = would be a large one....also make sure egr is not opened/vac selonoid stuck on thus applying egr....had a 94 do this once on me

no egr on this motor. also not lean at idle, this is its first run, not even broken in yet. shut it down because got hot. and timing might be off some, again it is not even broken in yet so timing has not been set, just roughed in. i think it is related to the upper intake or vac lines.
