Ok my best friend has a pontiac FIRETURD that was originally a 2.8.Well thats gone it now has a swapped over 350 with cam,headers,4 barrel,intake,700R4 with shift kit and 2,000 stall,10 bolt posi,3.55 gears, all in a 1987 FIRETURD SE.

Now mineis a 1989 Lx coupe and ithasa 1980 302 block bored 0.060 over
Eagle stroker kit
D8OE 351 heads Ported and polished and with oversized valves
Elgian 3/4 race cam (VERY LUMPY)
Holley shorty headers into 3 inch exhaust with 45 degree turn downs right before the rear axle (The neighbors love me)
Performer intake ported
performer 600 carb
new recurved 85 GT duraspark distributor
motorsport wires 9mm
100 amp alternator
1 inch aluminum carb spacer
Mr.Gasket Hilborn style race scoop(FOR MY NEW ADD ON A B&M 144 BLOWER)no blower yet though
SVO subframe connectors welded and bolted
High volume melling oil pump
HV waterpump
160 Thermostat
C4 auto 2.46.1 first,1.46.1 second,1.1 third
2,000 stall convertor
3.73 rear gears
3 core modine race radiator

Now obviously we arent going head to head in the winter but in the spring i will be stomping a mudhole in his ***!Based on both our setups what do you think our chances are against each other?Im more than sure i can take him in the 1/4 mile but he is a die hard gm fan as i am a ford fan and we've been bench racing each other all winter so who do you think has the upper hand?We are just about evenly matched as far as boltons its just the cubic inches and other small details that have each of us betting on our own car.So what do you think?

<edited><editID>TheGmKiller331</editID><editDate>37983.7286342593</editDate></edited>

As a fomer owner of 86 firebird w/swap 327 that had cam, headers, full exhuast, 10-bolt rear w/4.11s. I could only take 5.0s by a small margen. So with your 3.73 vs his 3.55 I think you'll win hands down. He has poor gearing in my opinion. I would go out and take a bet you'll beat him by about 1/2-3/4 of a car length. Just remember if its a 5.7L from the 80's or early 90's he's not pushing all that much more hp comparied to you. Plus your about a good 1000lbs lighter, just burn him.

From the looks of it I would say that the 5.0 had more horsepower then the chevy depending on how big the cam, intake, heads, etc were on the 350. From whatI read hereyou should win almost hands down. Death to the chevys. But the gearing thing you are talking about "tormenting5.0" I just dont get. 3.55s arnt good enough gears now ? If someone has more horsepower than you and say they have 3.55s and you with less horsepower but with 3.73s you think that you are going to win ? Prolly not. From what ive seen 3.55s to 3.73s is not going to be a crazy of adiffernce. Mabye I didnt read it right. Could you sun up what you meant tormenting5.0?

327 V8 vs a 350 V8...that's a 23 cubic inch difference.... 302 vs 327 is a 25 cubic inch difference, where as a 302 and a 350 is a 48 cid difference.....and I know how you people talk about LS1's and 4.6/5.0's......

Don't get cocky, that's all I'm saying.

Let us know what happens in a couple months.

You'll stroke him.... don't worry. If the setup is exactly as you've said..... you've got it! Hands down
