Default Raw gas small

not sure how to ask this one, but here goes it. i notice alot that when im driving,, i get that raw gas smell. pretty sure that i do NOT have an exhaust leak. one thing too, i drive a 5.0 vert, and not sure if im just getting more open air smells or what. could i have an air/fuel mixture issue, or is there something out there that i need to pay attention too. absolutely stock - no mods.

What year? Could be... a gas leak maybe? lol, just a guess. In my old 67 it was the fuel filter that screwed right into the carb that was leaking gas.

its an 89 - fuel injected. would a bad egr or some other part of exhaust system issue be the problem??

I dont think that the EGR would have anything to do with a smell like that.

Nope, if it was EGR or Exhaust it would smell like rotton eggs (cats) or just a strong sour smell (EGR or cats), not gas.

Check around your fuel tank. I've got the same problem with my 1990 GT. I looked everywhere for the gas smell and finally found out that the gas tank was leaking around the hole where the fuel sender/pump is.

Yeah, definitely check that, with a 19 year old car, it'd be no surprise to find some gasket/seal/rust problem with the gas tank. I'm not sure if cars still have these, but check the filler neck seal (??) yeah, sorry, i'm still talking back in the old '67 times. Should probably get with it, eh/
