IDLING ISSUEs
Recently replaced upper and lower intakes on my 1986 GT 302. Replaced them with the Cobra intakes.
Question...
The vehicle blew white smoke. I have corrected this problem as I got a little water in the oil.
Now the vehicle won't idle. I need to mash the pedal to keep it from dying. Also I replaced all the vacumm lines with new rubber. Could it be that the timing is off or a few ****ty spark plugs? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds more like a vacuum leak. Are you sure you got all the hoses and connections back on and that there is no hole left open on the new intakes? Also, if you have a gasket problem on the intake, that could create the leak. How did you correct the water into the oil / cylinder problem? Could that have created a vacuum leak? First place to check is vacuum based on your description and previous recent work.
Correction:
I took upper and lower intake off. Bought new gaskets and placed silicone around water jackets. Then cranked the bolts down. I know I am not loosing water because the water level in the radiator is staying the same.
I also have changed the oil twice w/change of the filter and I am slowly loosing that "milky" looking oil. I was also told to get a can of oil treatment to clean out all the old sludge. This will make a third oil change to futher clean the oil.
I will check the vacuum hoses, maybe one came loose. I will also get hose clamps to further prevent problems.
One questions: Regarding the timing. Which way do I turn the distributor cap to retard/advance the timing. I may have gone one way or the other when I replaced the dist. cap/rotor assembly. I did mark the rotor location with the cap assembly so I was able to match it all up with the gears below.
I am also going to clean the TB with cleaner as well as the unit (unknown name of it) that it mounted to the rear of the TB. (The flap of the TB is attached to it.)
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help guys.
I am still having a problem with the vehicle's idle. I changed to new Bosch plugs and the milky oil problem is GONE finally.
But at idle the vehicle sounds like its "missing" Even when I push on the gas pedal and leave it idle at 2000-3000 RPM's.
I even cleaned out the TB with spray cleaner.
Also I have noticed a faint bluish/black smoke from both exhaust pipes. It smells like un-burnt fuel. The smoke is light colored.
Also when I removed the old plugs some of the plugs were colvered in dry dark black carbon, while a few others were damp and dark black in color at the tip and smelled of fuel. Also as the vehicle idles rear low, the engine shakes violently and then stalls.
Any further suggestions before I give the vehicle to a mechanic. HAAHHA
Thanks again for the help.

Are you sure it's not burning oil? The bluish tint to the smoke sounds like oil. That would also tend to foul out the plugs. Also, regarding the skip, are all of your wires connected good on both ends, and are you sure you don't have a wire arcing? If one gets too close to a header, it can burn the covering and allow the wire to arc for instance.
I thought about it buring oil also but I never saw that smoke before the install.
And the wires are brand new and when I replaced the plugs the spark plug wires were fine, just like new.
So I am not sure what the problem is.

The distributor looks fine and yes I did pull it out from the engine.
I might be off a tooth or more when I replaced it but I did mark it and at least I think I matched the marks up when I replaced it.
What is the TPS? And how do you reset it?
The vacuum lines look good as I replaced them all
