adjusting timing

Default adjusting timing

so I had to adjust my timing and my friends adjusted it to 20 they said. is this bad?will this ruin the car?it runs alot better than what is used to.

20 is way to high the highest you should go is 14 and did you pull the SPOUT connector

You'll surely get detonation unless you got racing (100+ octane) fuel. The guy had to get the spoul out before adjusting your timing as well. You need a good ignition to handle and allow you to optimize your timing and results. I've seen several 5.0s with 16* timing but they had a full aftermarket ignition and 93 octane fuel. You better check this or you'll ruin your engine with detonation, which is NOT your friend

You souldnt go any higher than 14 if its stock. Are you sure you are at 20 base? Like stanglx said,did you pull the spout when adjusting? If you didnt the spout comes off the dist. wiring and will dead end into a plug harness....pull the plug and then adjust the timing.

a friend did it for me. so i had no idea.spout connector?grrrrrrrrrrrrr. thanks for the help guys
