Default MSD 6A Ignition Installation

Okay, I am not very mechanically inclined, but I have no money to pay someone else to do this. Could you please explain to me in great detail how to install my MSD 6A Ignition on my 1989 Mustang GT. I want to put the ignition under my cold air intake. I know I will need to lengthen some wires. Could you tell me what kind of wires I need, where to get them, and how to add them to my existing wire. I also do have the wiring harness. Please help me, I am desperate. I know the installation is not that hard, but I am concerned about how to make the wires longer. Thank-you for your help. I greatly appreciate it.

i have never installed one but i mess with wires all the time. to legthen just get another piece of wire thats the same gage like 16 or 18 or what ever it takes. cut your harness in the center but just done 1 wire at a time and then solder each and of the cut wire to each end of your splice wire and then heat shrink over that and repeat. i dont know if you should do that to your harness or not but thats how you should do it if you can.

Okay that sounds really hard. Is there anywhere that I can install my MSD 6a box that I won't have to lengthen any wires. I don't want the hassel of lengthening wires. I heard that some people put them on their firewall, but I don't see where there is enough room. PLEASE HELP ASAP! Thanks

well if you get the battery relocaterg from summit which is like 50 dollars you can put your battery in your trunk and then install the MSD in place of the battery. I know you said something about not being able to have someone do it but for 50 dollars you'll get another part out of it.

Thats what I would do. Better weight distribution with the battery in the truck and with the MSD in the front it looks good too.

its not hard to splice wires, but when you have to lengthen them significally go with thicker wire.
mabye 1 ga thicker.

to simplify installation get the msd quick hookup connector for ford TFI.

just buy the $25 efi harness, and it just plugs in.

5 minute install, you don't want to splice anything anyway, if you have to, then solder so you don't get a loose connection later and have to hunt it down

If you do decide to relocate the battery to the trunk dont get the summit kit because its not a sealed box
