RE: heater core removal
i just put mine in a few months ago and it took me and a buddy about 4 hrs to do, the whole entire dash has to be removed, then the core is in the box for the blower and everything else. To get it out you'll have to unbolt it from under the hood, remember to replace both heater hoses while your there

yea it takes quite a bit of work. If I was you I just would leave it alone unless you want to do it lol. Mine went bad a while ago, and i just rerouted the houses and the car runs fine. I mean it doesn't seem to make it overheat without it or anything, to me it seems to run the same.

It sucks, but it can be done. One of the techs at work said they did a lot of them back in the day and the usually failed because of high RPMs so Ford had a TSB to put a restrictor in the line to reduce high pressure getting to the core and blowing it out again.

hey there,
My heater core went out a few months ago and a buddy and mine replaced it. Heres the god to hones truth man, if there is any way possible that u have the money to have it done thats te route i would go. I called a local ford dealer when it happened and they wanted 500 so u may be able to find it for less than that. If ur set on doing it yourself. get urself a sharpie marker and some sandwich bags and lable every screw u take out. Hmmm like someone said earlier there is an o-ring in one of the coolant lines, make sure u replace that as well. And ur going to need some special tools to dissconnect some hard lines under ur hood. Oh plus theit going to have to discharge and recharge ur AC. However my Number 1 word of advice would be take care of it NOW. I let mine go for a lil while and well when i took my carpet up the bottom of the cab was full of water. Hope that helps man. Oh and get urself a haynes manual there are detailed instructions in there.

I got out the easy way, my heater core box was broken longways and ducktaped by someone who had replaced it before. So i just pulled off the tape and pulled it out and stuck the new one in and re ductaped it.[sm=signs003.gif]
