Default hatch problem

When i close my latch it doesnt lock tightly. It just locks but i can still lift it up about 1/4 inch and it bumps when it bumps or holes. Would i need to replace the whole latch and lock mechanism???

I had exact same problem and mine was the stricker bolt is suppose to have a thick rubber boot or spacer over itself so I just went to hardware store and got a braded chunk of hose and cut it to lenght and slit it down the whole side and slid over the strker bolt and it cured my hatch not shutting and or jarring lose and opening.
