Default Cooling system help is needed...

i just completed a 3.8 to 5.0 swap in my sn95 and i was driving down the street and i turned on my heater blower and POOF... coolant vapors filled the car and the engine freaked out... and blew off the upper radiator hose, dumping coolant all over my nice new clean shinny 5.0. now... i checked the thermostat... its fine. i know for a fact that it wasnt full with coolant. so im assuming the air pockets heated up and expanded... thus causing the hose blow off. but... would that kill my heater core? now when i try to burp the radiator to fill it, the coolant surges out the cap openning... then drops about 4 inches. then 3 seconds later it surges back up and spills out coolant, then drops again. any thoughts?
