Default Charging Problem

My dad put in a set of pulleys for FRPP, and is having charging problems. So he turned up the idle a bit and it seemed to fix things for a while. Being in college, I'm not at home to check out the problem so I thought I'd throw up a post.

He was siting in traffic the other night at idle, the lights dimming and whatnot and smelled something funny. When he pulled into our subdivision, his headlights went out twice, but came back on, he fears wiring damage.

I told him to throw the old pulley back on the alternator, anyone got a clue here?

what else are you running? Stereo, fog lights, etc.? The only pully I would ever change out is the Harmonic balancer pulley, I would never put a larger pulley on the Alt or WP. Put the stock pulley back on. If the problem persists, put a smaller pulley on the Alt, should counter the problem.

Have you used a volt meter to see what output your getting at idle and at 2500 RPM?

I had the same problem after installing my pullies. I just threw the stock alternator pulley on and the problem was pretty much solved.
