can anyone tell me why my stock 5.0 only gets 5.8MPG? I put a new carb and tuned it up and it made no difference. So im stuck =/

 

maybe you put too big of carb or its not tuned right still. i get 26 with my 5.0 on the highway.

 

... are you leaking gas? It seems quite hard to get 5.8 mpg, unless you're towing a 6 ton block of concrete that's staked to the ground... or you drive 3/4 throttle half the time and full throttle the other half of the time

Edit: are you sure you're measuring it right too? Do you have gears and not the right speedo gear? Bigger tires?

 

Make sure nothing is restricting your air flow. Did you change your air and fuel filters? Thats pretty bad there.

 

Cut your foot off & replace with an uber-light CF one[&:]

 

I'm thinking you didn't carry the 1 over in the math

 

Did you you tune the carb after you installed it?

 

i had a leak in my gas tank and i still got 8 mp and when i say leak and mean it cam pouring out when i would accelerate.

 

how did you come to this number?

 

I get a wopping 12-14 with a lot of highway driving. Im fuel injected too. But what ever thats what I expected when I bought the car. But still 5.8 is really ****ty and I hope you get that fixed.
