I've got a 95 cobra and the tranny whines in 2nd and 3rd gears. It gets louder the faster I go. Any ideas as to what the probelm is and are there any fixes?
I put in some lucas fluid but it didn't help. It's a manual by the way.

 

low on gear oil? idk just a thought

 

man i know how you feel. mine whines like a supercharger when i'm on it in 3rd and i cant figure out what the hell is wong.

 

Mine whines too...they all do...mine's even been rebuilt...no big deal...check the fluid though.

 

If it has a bit of miles on it the syncros might be going, what kind of fluid you using?

Could be your throwout bearing, just a guess though.

 

sounds like your rear to me... time for some gears

 

my 97 gt did the same thing and i could never figure it out. i would add more fluid and it would still do it. it might be normal but i dont know. i cant tell if my 91 does it or not from it being so loud.

 

do any of ya'll have aftermarket gears? i have 3.73's and thats what caused the wining for me! its no big issue though, almost every mustang has that problem. just check the fluid in the rear, also check your trans. fluid. what are u putting in your tranny? although mine is a 5 speed, i put mercon 3 AOD fluid in mine. the manual trans. fluid tends to clump up in the winter while the AOD is alittle thinner, but just as good.
