i have a 91 LX 5.0, i got a stock gears in the back, and i put in a 140 cluster, and the speedo is way off and i think the speedo gear worked with an 85 mph would gear would i put back in there or wat should i do?

 

should i replace the speed sensor?

 

NO NO NO u have to change the speed o gear ont he speed sensor or the tail shaft of the trans. if you go to any ford dealership hey will get u the right gear for the speed o.

Also i am shure that if you go to a aftermarket gear site they will have the gear for the speed o avalible.

Just curious, My '90 came with the 140 mph cluster. Were they not standard in the 90's and 91's, or were they only on GT's? I thought after 80 something they were standard.

 

the 140's came on all 89-93's I believe...I'm pretty sure GT's or LX 5.0's

 

That's what I thought, but then why did Bagitupbaby have to replace an 85 cluster in a '91? Don't usually have folks changing a stock 140 to an 85.

 

yea Im def sure that in 89 they changed....plus the 87-88 85 MPH cluster is slightly different because it has a dummy light panel on the bottom right....and you have to mod the newer 140's to fit in the 87-88's I believe....so in dont really know why his had the 85?

 

My '89 has an 85 mph cluster... mhmm...:P
