engine swap
Hey, I was looking to buy a 95 stang. It looks pretty nice but it is very unique. It used to be a V6, and still has the v6 body, but the owner before the one now took out the 6 and put in a 1995 5.0 engine with 80,000 miles on it. The guy now said that he put 5 or 7 thousand miles on it. The guy who owns it now says that the only problem with it is a little oil leak. Im going on monday to see it and get it checked out and potentially buy it. The seller said that he'd set up an appointment.
What do you guys think about this. My mom said that he could find a mechanic that would pronounce it good when there are really problems or that 5 or 7 thousand miles after an engine swap is enough to find out that something is wrong with it. So that's why he's selling it. If the mechanic lies and then later on after i have bought it, there is a problem that another mechanic says isnt recent, would it be my fault or could I place the blame on the mechanic who told me it was all good.
Thanks for the help

RE: engine swap
basic rule is the lemon law... 7 days.
but you may wanna bring it to your OWN mechanic... just to be sure
last thing you need is to have the oil pan gasket or even better... the front main seal, be where your leak is coming from... those will be semi costly to fix. i know... im a professional mechanic

RE: engine swap
why would a front main seal be costly? you can do that with the motor in the car, you can also do the oil pain gasket with the motor in the car, and you can do bearings with the motor in the car.
