I've replaced mine 3 times in my car and I need a new one again. And I've only driven my car 4000 miles since I got it. If you run your car to redline it frys the pump, I've been thinking of just by passing mine. These pumps are really worthless.

Also if you are going to replace it get a reman. one that comes with a life time warrenty. I did this and have only had to pay for it once. I got mine from advanced auto. Also you need a special tool to pull the pulley off. If you use a regular puller you will bend the pulley and the belt won't line up right.
Yea, I tried to get mine off myself, it took 3 people to get it off and by the time I did everything was trashed! The pulley was practically bent in half! But theres nothing a vice and hammer cant fix But ALL FORDS power steering pumps are VERY loud and obnoxious. I would go with a reman from Auto Zone or Advanced Auto (or any other local parts store) and get a lifetime warranty and than you wont have to deal with paying for it over and over again but If it were me I would just toss it. Better handling, more control, less weight, better looks, etc.

zach get one from ford it cost more but you cant even hear mine, they will pull your old pullie off and put it on the new pump just make sure you have the bracket for it, p.s. go to ford in hampsted and ask for Ben Benge everyone calls him Benny, if you buy a good many parts from ford he is the guy to know. he is missing half of his arm you cant miss him. he is a great guy. tell him Tim Walsh sent you he should cut your price down a lil more
I met the guy a couple times. When I used to work at monroe muffler we would get parts from crouse.

Trash the pump? I guess I would have to go to manual steering? So how would the car steer?
