why do you think that is your problem? most of the time it will crack the webbing, or completley take the bottom end out, and sometime they split down the center.

If you're running a main cap girdle, I hear the place to be is right down the lifter valley.

Didn't want to wait and find out though, so I upgraded.
If you're considring getting a stronger block, go for it

don't think so,getting leary,and don't have the big$$$for another.
when i tore down the top end i did find a few things.
intake gaskets were smashed/melted
exhaust side on one of the heads was nice and shiny(no carbon)
same head, and port side.i found some hot spots/or pitting found it with a magnafying glass though.
and head gasket on that same side just fell off.
other side the gasket stayed on the head when pulled off.

howmuch for a bare block? i'm sure the internals are good they are all forged is i thought was a waste on a basically factory block.

They crack form the crank up all the way to the lifter bore back to front or front to back and the main girdle well it didnt help ours.then the crank twist and flexs due to the wide clearances and lack of support then it cracks and brakes.and well by this time it is spewing fluid out all over the track/street and it is getting under the rear tires ET streets no tread and the rear starts to slide and sway the the OH-**** meter is rising well you get it.all while you are moving at 115+

A bare block, well arnt you building a 351?

I paid around 1700 for my bare R302
But I don't have to worry about it splitting, ever...
