i saw a 302 short block from jegs and was wondering if this would be good for a daily driver/strip car. i want it to be able to hold up to about 500 hp but i didnt know how good it would it would be with those hypereutectic pistons. or do u reccomend i should get a 347 stroker kit. would this get ok gas mileage. also van i PLEASE have anyones screename so i can talk to u about the subject. really need help thanks a lot.

in all honestly why do you want 500hp. that is pushing the limits of the 302 blocks strength. with that 500hp you shooting for 10s..

i wil run over 500 HP with a stock block, with mods billet 4 bolt mains an a griddle, about 100 dollars cheaper then a R block and just as strong. but 500 HP wil not be verysteetable if you go all motor. i will go against everybody and say build a 347 stroker just do it right and enjoy longlasting HP, all internal componets should be forged no cast or HY.and then balanced. no 500HP car getsok gas milage or aruond 6 miles to the gallon.

that is very true, there is no replacement for displacement. but remember they can get costly</P>

the stock block can hold over 500 hp. So you do not need to buy another block, just get it tested at a machine shop, magnaflux and honed. And you can get pained nice old Oval blue.
