Default brake help!

I have a 1994 Mustang GT and I have upgraded Heads(TFS), Cam(TFS), 24lb injectors, 1.6" R/R, pushrods, and 225gph fuel pump.
My question is since this upgrade my brakes are not stopping my car like they used too. Why? is there something that I am missing or what? but this is driving me crazy because I have tried researching this and I have come up with nothing, please HELP!
Thank you.

ur power brakes get their power from the brake booster, which operates off of engine vacuum. the larger duration cam will not give you the vacuum that the stock one does. You can fix this a couple of ways. one is to get a vacuum canister. im not sure how much this will do, but it will help nonetheless. another option would be upgrading your brakes with better pads and rotors, maybe even calipers if you wanted. another possibility would be looking into Maximum Motorsport's pedal kit- http://www.maximummotorsports.com/manualbrakes.asp. it is designed for manual brake conversions to increasing "foot power", but it will work for you as well. this is just an option, i would consult MM before doing it.

mkspeed,

Thanks for the info, I knew that vacuum was a factor but I did not know that it was going to affect my brakes that bad. I will see if I can upgraded to cobra brakes(calipers, rotors, new lines etc).
If I do upgrade to cobra brakes will it be a an easy install that my GT hardware will work with the cobra one with no problems?
Again, Thank you.

if your still looking, check out Wilwood brakes......i have 4 lug willwood cross drilled/slotted with 6 piston up front and 4 out back.....they are the best for the money and look really tight on the stang. they were about 1/2 the cost of bear or brembo and come with better calipers/pistons setup.

If you really want "power brakes" you can get conversion kits that sure hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump (like on a diesel, they dont make much intake vacuum either) I saw the kit in hotrod a few months back, it takes up a hell of alot less room than the vacuum booster does. If you want more info, I can see if I can find it for ya

hydro boosting brakes is a good option but with the already confined space near the brake master cylinder wonder if it would be alot of trouble to convert will have to check the kit out and do some research[sm=goodidea.gif][sm=interesting.gif]

Summit racing has a vacumn pump that is set up for cars with larger cams to help give more vacumn at the brake booster. You could try this as it would be your cheapest fix. 1-800-230-3030 You won't be happy with the manual brake conversion. Has your brake pedal gotten a little firmer?

wildcobrar,
Thank you for the info, I have found a link to it and know I am doing some research on this(to double check this), it seems that this is the answer to my question. Thank you.
www.summitracing.com and the part number is ssb-28146 at $279.95 and this will work on a mustang or any other car.
