Default cold starting

ok, so another problem is making itself apparent. this morning i tried to start the car. at first, when i turned the key, the engine would crank and crank but wouldnt fire and turn over. then eventually it would sort of chug chug chug, like it wanted to start, but still wouldnt. then the batter wasnt giving it enough juice. if i were to have another car to jump it it would fire up....

the car has lived its whole life in washington, this is its first time dealing with the coldness. what can i do to fix this¿ its no fun trying to go somewhere, and finding out you cant cuz the damn car wont start

forgot to mention...it is carbureted

try buying a new battery, then if it's really cold, check to see if the car has a plug-in for a block heater, plug that in and leave it for while, let the pump purge too, it may help in the cold weather!

its not the battery, and it doesnt have a block heater. if it did, i wouldnt be having this problem.

what does it take to hook a block heater up to it¿

mabe put in a lighter weight oil, i dunno if it'd help with that but it should help in winter time.

not sure how to hook one up...also...if the car has been in warmer weather all its like and now is in cold climate, make sure to check your Anti-freeze make sure it's not watered down to much or you'll have more problems!

ya...right now the choke is wired all the way open. so is it just allowing too much coldness to get down inside the carb and freezing **** up¿

no what the choke plate does is close the top of the carb most of the say so it richins your a/f ratio, because a motor use's more fuel when it is cold. I bet when you hook that up it starts up
