Default burning oil

i have a 88 5.0 that i just bought... the low oil light came on so i put a quart of oil in it the next day the low oil light came on again... what could be buring that much oil in one day? (i think i went though about a tank of gas in the same time) its has a cam heads intake, and didnt leave a puddle where it was sitting over night, any thoughts? it also doesnt smoke (that i can tell its been extremely cold here for a few days and thats about how long ive had it.

might be your rear main seal, they leak on most mustangs, and not necessarily
drip on the ground, but that seems to be alot of oil to go through in one day
pvc= positive crank case ventilation
