Default v8 conversion

Hi,
My daughter has a wrecked 88 gt manual mustang. We are working with limited funds,I can't find another gt cheap or even a v8 lx.She really like the hatch cars vs the notch cars.I have found several 4cyl auto cars around 500 dollars, even some with good paint. My question is do I need to get an 88 or will her powertrain fit in a newer car like up to 93?What will I have to change?I still have her whole car so I have alot of the parts I need, but will they fit.Are all the mustangs the same, regardless of engine size they came with or year, will everything bolt up or is it going to be alot of engineering?Do I need to change the fuel system, are the lines the same?Sorry for so many questions,I just respect you guys' knowledge and experience. thanks, jim

it doesn't have to be an 88. 87-93 will work. you will have to replace:

drivetrain- engine, tranny, rear end
fuel system
cooling system
wiring harness, computer
springs unless you like it riding low.
