Default finally some new shoes!

i've been driving around with all season 205s for two summers now, waiting to do the 5 lug conversion to slap on the cobra wheels i purchased last year, now fitted with BFG DRs 275/40s...

before

after

what a difference! i can't stop staring at it, and it feels like a complete different car, it hooks alot more than i imagined it would. PITA to fit though, they rubbed really bad on the inside. had to get rid of the quad shocks (MM control arms in the mail!) and bang around everywhere with a mallet to 'adjust' it, still needed a spacer, got an 8mm, then had to roll the lips a little, lotsa dicking around but it was so worth it! ....yes i know the drums look like crap! no worries, i just finished sanding them down and they're getting painted black tomorrow. going to pick up the spindles this week to do the front.

anyways, thanks for looking! any comments are appreciated.

I've been waiting to put my new wheels on till I can deside what size tires to run in the read. I got 8's with 4.5 bs and my biggest clearance problem seems to be the tail pipes. Your 275\s look sweet, but I am leaning towards something around 245x60, just so I have no issues

It looks good.

Why not get rear disc brakes though?

yes 98 cobras, i got a set from a friend over a year ago, then bought an extra two more mounted with BFG DRs off of a member here (emann) a couple months ago... sorry 86 you can still get em' though.[8D]

blackLX, i already have the rear calipers and rotors from a 95 in a box here, but i didn't feel like doing the MC, PV, BB swaps/mods, then hunt around for all the hardware and run new lines and e-brake cables and all that crap... getting the ranger axles and drums is so much less time consumming, in the end most of the braking is still done by the front anyway so i didn't want to bother with it.

315's?

you shouldnt have had any clearance issues with 275's... and 315's will not give you as good grip because they are "pulled" too hard
they're 275s, i didn't think i'd have any clearance issues either, but they were a PITA, i don't know why either, most people don't have any problems with em'... i had to move the exhaust a bit, relocate the e-brake cables, take ou tthe quads (could've flipped them though, but with the MM LCAs in the mail i didn't bother with it) oddly enough i get no wheel hop or notice any difference without the quads. then still had to get 8mm spacers and bang round inside the fender/massage the lip a little... maybe the backspacing on the 98 cobras is weird, i dunno.
