New here, names Chris. I have a question that maybe someone can help me with. I have a 1994 Cobra. When I cracked my block I picked up another cheap 5.0 block from a 90's Mercury Montero or Mountaineer (exact year/model unkown). Works great except for one thing........I can't find hedders that will fit it! The problem is that the Mercury block's plugs angle out instead of up, and none of the hedders for Stangs will clear the plugs. I have gone through about 3 pairs of hedders that people have recomended, finally settling on a custom chop job of mine made from Heddman Hedders. They work, but aren't very appealing. I would like to find a set of shorys that will work for it, and people keep telling me that they make special ones for Mercury 5.0's in Mustangs. I have yet to find them, any advice or part numbers would be greatly appreciated!

those would be GT-40 or GT-40P heads

 

Not necessarily... But you should consider a head swap. Two good things about it come to mind immediately

Do you still have the heads off of your Cobra motor? Those would be an excellent choice

 

I have a pair of GT-40P heads on it now, and aluminum heads sitting in the garage, however, thats wasn't my question. I need to find a set of exhaust hedders.

 

Why not put the aluminum ones on?? BBK unequal length shorties will work with the gt40p setup

 

The aluminum ones I have are cracked, I am simply looking for headers that will work with the Mercury motor
