Default Ouch!! went to the track tonight...

went down to Firebird tonight. i figured i had to be in the 14's. apparently i was wrong. there was barely anybody there so i got to run 9 times which was good because it was my first time at the track. here are my top 3 runs.

r/t .446
60 2.418
330 6.649
1/8 10.080 71.65mph
1000 13.032
1/4 15.536 90.16

.269
2.399
6.654
10.102 71.38mph
13.066
15.578 89.86mph

.289
2.406
6.676
10.128 71.37mph
13.094
15.608 89.83mph

ouch. unfortunetly i forgot my laptop so i couldn't make any changes to the tune, but i leaned it out a bit with the regulator and started getting 90 mph traps. i am really dissapointed in the 60 ft times, but i was launching as hard as she could with no wheelspin whatsoever. i guess it's time for a new converter. it was 100 degrees there even after sundown and the elevation is somewhere around 2000 ft. could these factors hinder me by as much as a half second?? i really was expecting to see 14's.

Well it does not help that your a vert, sn95's are a bit heavier and your aode. Work on the tranny, manual valve body, and a better converter like you mentioned to start with.

What parts do you have that you need a "tune" and why?

Whoa! not any better than I did about a month ago there. And what is sad is I have run 14.7 there in the past. Even being a SN95 vert I would thing with at least the 4.10's you would have been quicker. Could very well have been the track conditions.

A couple weeks ago my 94 went 14.8 @ 92 bone stock. 3.08 gears. It's a coupe and it's 5-spd however. My track is 2500 ft. above sea level. You should have been faster than a 15.5 with 4.10's!

Look at your 60ft times, they are horrible. With some good tires you will be well into the 14's. Your mph is good to around low to mid 14.

i think it was just the heat and my car just didn't have any torque between 2k and 3k. i was still chirping the tires in second though. i know i have launched harded than that on the street before, just never in hot weather. this is why Firebird is packed during the winter and nearly empty during the summer. it was kinda frustrating, but i had fun losing to musclecars and beating imports legally for once.

pro50sc : i bought the tweecer in preperation for future mods but i have made some beneficial fuel and timing changes. small ones of course because i don't have a wideband o2 yet. and it's great for controlling fan switch temperatures and little things like that.

The heat at firebird gets pretty bad, with the humidity from the lake. You will easily lose .5 and 4MPH vs running in the winter. I have the timeslips from my runs with no mods between summer and winter, just have to find them.

Also, were you stalling the converter or leaving from an idle?
