1/4 time
Hey guys im changing my oil and spark plugs right now and im takin the car to the track friday just wanted to get some estimates from experienced guys, mods on stock 302, hooker headers, moroso cai, 65mm tb, x pipe, driveshaft, short throw shifter, pulleys, smog elim., 3.73 gears,. adj cultch, be kool radiator, wires. pretty much stock suspension and street tires. Let me know what you guys think and what rpm i should leave the line at with street tires. thanks!
lol i know! gotta keep saving up! ill probably have this combo for a while so i was wondering for weight reduction what could i get rid of from the car? maybe not get rid of but take it out on race day, and has anyone with a similar combo broke into the 13's? oh and what rpm would you reccomend on take off?
thanks again!
thanks again!
With unequal headers, stock drive shaft,no pullys and with other things you mentioned i used to run 14.1-14.3 all day. It was a full weight hatch with spare removed. Had stock susp. also and crappy street tires. Best mph was 95.8. You should be able to run low 14's no problem.
Really impressive fastblack ill probably be satisfied with those numbers for know, what other items could i remove to get more weight reduction? oh and are you running spools? if so how are they on tight turns do they make the rear tires cherp?
Yea i am runnin a moser full spool. But this is on my 89 with a 351 block. Some specs are in my sig. The other car i was talking about i sold. There are alot of weight reductions. I dont do too many, i like to keep car mostly stock. Some people remove rear seats.padding under carpet, bumpers but put bumber covers on,front sway bar. There is a big counter weight that is on top of diff. If you have after market gears you can get rid of it. They have weight reduction thread around i think, just do a search.
Suspension is terribly important. You can have all the power in the world but with no way of getting it the asphalt it is useless. In time you should look into purchasing upper and lowers, sub-frame conn.,torque box reinforcements or if they are in good shape you can weld them along with your axle tubes, Rear end girdle if your makeing lots of horsepower to strenthgen the diff, list gos on and on.
goin fast is fun but EXPENSIVE. Jus remember it is an on going project that may take awhile, so just save and buy parts as you can afford them.
