I got a 84 vert with 5.0ho and will be needing a new exhaust setup soon and was thinking about a dual side exhaust setup.Iam having a hard time finding one for my year setup(79-85)does anyone have one and

1 how do thy sound
2 will there be any difference in poweras apposed to a straight system
3 any problems with fumes bein in a vert
4 where can I get one

There is not any pre fabed side exhaust setup for any of the foxes (79-93). I'm going to be putting mine together when i come home from Iraq in feb. you can run your normal h pipe/ x pipe and flow tubes but you just need to find mufflers that have a front inlet and front outlet. Summit sells a few different kinds like flowmasters single outlet 80 series (which are the ones i'm gonna use). the only downside to running a side exit on a fox is that if you have subframe connecters the exhaust will hang very very low. I am fabricating a set of in frame subframe connectors so that my exhaust wont hang so low. As for the 45 degree turn to the side and the tips you will have to do yourself also. I'm sure you may lose a couple of horses but it shouldn't be enough to notice. I'm not exactly sure what the 80 series sound like on a ford motor but if you search you tube you can find plenty of camaro's running them ( it is a camaro muffler). and for the fumes you should be ok as long as you dont sit in one spot for a long period of time. but hey throw in some race fuel and take the smell in!

 

Idid see a fox (86-87 i think) with a side skirt/exhaustkit, the kid just bought the car and didnt know where it came from but it did look cool - wish I had my camerathat day

 

There is one car one car domain or whatever it is alot of people use on here that has an aftermarket kit and cut on the tips and did it but he doesnt show the accual exhaust from underneath. its a red gt

 

There is a guy from Forest City NC, and hes usually at the Bristol and Atlanta FFW shows. He has a super slick looking silver fox. It has side exhaust on it, with side skirts. Oval holes in the rear like the SVO side exhausts on the SN95 cars. He did have a feature in MM&FF last year, or year before that. That car looks sweet. There is a topic on here where someone posted a similar looking car. I will see about finding it....

i think the silver fox looks amazing with that exhaust. i kno you were askin for the earlier years but this is what i found. does anybody at all kno what kinda side skirt that is? i would love to find out....

 

The silver stang is has a set of cobra side skirts with the place for the tips just cut out.

i thought it could be the cobra side skirt but it kinda looks like the whole bottomhas a bit more of a rounded shape as opposed to more of a flat shape like the cobra
