Default 90 5.0 engine probs.

Hi All, havent posted in ages but I need some advice on my stangs problems. I've replaced the plugs, wires, rotor, cap, cleaned the maf, replaced the pvc, checked for vacum leaks, replaced the fuel filter, and the cars idle fluctuates as much as 400rpms, while cold, and after warming up the fluctuating drops to around 100-200 rpm's, and while going down the road, you can feel the problem is still there a little, but the only way to describe what it feels like going down the road is like someone grabbing your waistband and lightly jerking back on forth on ya. My plan is to give the car to my son as a graduation gift, but I want to make sure its running good 1st. I'd really appreciate any help guys. Thanks.

HA! sounds exactly like my problem!!!! I've been hunting down that dirty little gremlin bastard for months now! No one can seem to help track it down for me either! So, if you find that littl fu*ker somewhere, you let me know where he has been hiding!!! LOL

Oh, by the way , you shoulda posted this one in the tech section!

It doesnt matter whether your goin around corners, straight line, braking or not, it's always there to some degree.

I have the same problem with a carb 5.0 with 160,000 miles,I'm thinking timing chain slop, even though sitting still the timing lite doesn't seem to jump much. The search continues...

Your right, I forgot to mention them, I did check them and they checked out fine. So the process continues.

Heres a couple more things I've noticed that are going on, starting to get a lot of misfiring, and when I took off the old dist cap, you could see where the rotor looks like it had been hitting the cap, not hard though, and the other day while warming it up, both the tach and amp guage simultaneously dropped quite a ways and then came back up, I'm starting to lean more towards an electrical issue maybe, the alternators new, and the amp guage while sitting in traffic you can watch it drop to about 8 volts, the battery is a 2 yar battery with 4 years on it, so I'll replace it and drag the multi meter out and see what the output is on the alt and the battery, thsi whole thing is driving me bonkers. I'll keep ya posted. Later
