Default What's the difference?

Just curious... what is the difference between the HO motors and the non-HO ones? I have a 91 coupe with the HO and I just wanted to know exactly what I have before I end up replacing parts that don't need to be replaced. Also how much more HP does the HO have over the basic 5.0? Thanks for the input!

all the 5.0's are HO motors. the difference is fire order of the cylinders (cam). HP is considerbly less for non-HO. you have an HO motor. what needs to be replaced? are you having problems? whats are issue?

someone will chime in with specifics

nothing really needs to be replaced now. i was just wondering for future reference when i plan to upgrade. does anyone know what whp the HOs are rated at?that will at least give me a reasonable estimation of my hp now since i only have a few bolt-ons...

hp would be about 200. 1/4 would be about 14.9 depending on driver mod, could be better or worse.

sorry forgot that i also have 3.73s. don't know how much that helps. thanks for the input guys! I was just trying to get a starting point to know how much to expect after long tubes and H/C/I this spring. I would like about 350rwhp but it looks like that's gonna be a little harder to get to than i thought...

Yea the gears would help you out in the1/4 but not in HP.. Some say you can shave off 4-5 tenths of a sec in the 1/4 for the gears..
