school kicks ass...getting to build my own rear in class

yup im in the manual powertrain class and we are gunna have to take apart and put back together diffs. i asked my teacher if i got an 8.8 from the junk yard can i bring it in and build it. he said yes so now i gotta go to the junk yard and find myself an 8.8. my question is though while im building the rear i wanna do gears what should i get 3.55's or 3.73's? keep in mind im in school working full time to pay rent gas and food. i dont want to kill my gas millage. are the 3.55's gunna give me enough spunk or shoudl i just go for the 3.73s?

really? hmm i do live in boston so that might help. and it does kinda make sense, get up to speed faster so you use less gas.

i heard the higher the gears the better for city but worse for highway. the lower better for highway the worse for city if you get what i am saying. there are guys in my car club with 4.10s and a supercharger getting anywhere from 20-30 mpg and pushing around 400 rwhp. since they drive around town it dosen't take much to get the car moving so therefore you get better mpg. if you get what i am saying. not trying to hijack the thread but are you a freshmen there and tell me more about it if you don't mind. i am a junior in high school looking for the right auto school to go to.

seriously if you want to go to an auto school go to uti. i have been to the other schools i have seen what they do and it doesnt compair to UTI. in the school your not a freshman or senior or anything. depending on what you take decides how long youll be in the school. im taking automotive and ford fact. i cover everything thats on a car from engines drivetrains to hot rodding dyno tuning and street tuning all that stuff. then i go on to ford fact. there i learn everything ford has and after that class i can go to any ford dealer in the country and work for them. only down fall is classes are 6 hours a day 5 days a week and its the same class for 3 weeks straight. you get a 15 minute break and then a 30 minute break and then you go home. there are also no dorms on any campus so you have to find an apartment.
