Default octane

i put 93 in my car with a CAI, 373s, shorties, o/r x, and flowmaster catback...it also has either after market RRs, valve springs or mild cam of some sort

is there any possible way that using 93 is hurting my car? i was just over in the 4.6 section (i know, i know) and there is a big thread about it possibly hurting the car...can this apply to us?

thanks

doesnt make a difference unless you bump up your timing, thats it

i plan on doing that, but have yet to...but even at normal timing, 93 won't hurt it?

higher octane will never actually hurt your motor but it is a waste unless your running higher timing settings. your motor will produce thye best horsepower at the minimum octane rating it can run without detonation. i am running 38 degrees total timing but in order to do this is i must run 112 octane racefuel or i get detonation. the reason you can run more timming on higher octane is because the higher the octane the slower the gas burns in the cylinder, therefore the spark can be started earlier in the combustion sequence and burn the fuel cleaner and more efficiently.

As long as it's not under-octane you're fine, just wasting as said above.

I'm rocking 93 in my stock 302 but I've also been playing with the timing.

really??? and she runs fine with that? How is your engine, anything done that running 20 degrees would be needed?

I bumped our 94 up to 14 and from the stock 10 it feels much better...

I'd say start it at 14 degrees see what that gets you..
