Default AODE expert needed

Well when I bought my car I was shown a reciept from a good local transmission shop that gave details of my transmissions rebuild. It is general but shows some components that went into the trans. I contacted the shop and they said the owner supplied aperformance rebuild kit that was installed and a high stall torque converter. The problem I am having now is while driving at lower rpms while under load (level or up small hill) the rpms will jump around as if the transmission was slipping... (its not but feels as though it is) if I press the gas slightly harder it will go no slipping no hesitation, and no shuttering. I was wondering what could cause this problem, if I actully accelerate hard the transmission is amazing shifts rock solid and has no problems. Any advice on what to try, the transmission is coming out in a few weeks and I am trying to get the problem fixed before it gets worse. Thanks

what you may think to be a trans related issue could be an engine performance related issue with the engine like a miss , surge or hesitation could be tune up related .....that kind of diagnosis is almost impossible to guess at without going for a ride to experience what you are feeling.

New 95 GT convertible owner here. I have an automatic, is this the AODE or AOD? I think it's the AODE.

Anyway, shifts fine when I'm driving normally. But if I want to romp on it the transmission slips and the engine revs as if I put it in neutral. Back of the accelerator and it grabs again.

Someone has said it could be something as simple as needing a new tranny filter. Fluid is full. The car has sat in the previous owners garage for a year without being driven.

Any thoughts?

In the 95-95 Mustang's they upgraded their transmission from the AOD to the AODE(electronic). It was signifigantly stronger than the AOD, but still inferior to the 96-04 4R70W tranny. A slipping transmission is not a good sign. In many cases it would need a rebuild. However, since the car has not been driven for a while, I would deff. do a complete trans fluid flush and add a new filter. If this does not fix your prolbem, a new tranny may be in order. While doing this, I would add a shift kit(firmer shifts vs overlapped shifts) and a tranny cooler. An automatic's #1 cause of failure is heat. Plus coolers can be had for under $50.
