Pro, i know how you feel, i am rather uuuhhh "wide" as well, thats why i said to take the seat out
did you put foam on the bolts?
try sitting upside down working under the dash in the seat of a 69 mach 1 with no tilt steering

When I replaced the cable in my wifes car, i was able to do it w/o removing the seat. Yeah, this was a lil more tedious than that.[:@]
