Default Performance Chip

Im looking on ebay and some guy makes performance chips for Mustangs, either for fox or SN-95. I have a 94 mustang Auto and i dont know if it is worth it to buy this chip for my car, he says if your not satisfied with the perfomance he will refund you money, so im thinking of buying it, what you guys think.

Not worth it. First you really need to have enough mods to warrant a chip. Second, if you do have those mods you will want a custom chip. These generic-type mail order chips are a waste of time and money. It looks like he just made a few minor changes to simple functions / scalars / tables. True, it could yield some power. But you're better off just advancing the timing at the distributor for free.

If all you have done is what you have in your sig, then I'd do the following. It's at least a moderate start:

-- Full exhaust. You can get brand new headers and a midpipe for about $250 total. Then toss a couple hundred more and you can get some nice sounding catback exhaust.

-- Advaice your timing. That is free HP.

-- Get a CAI or at the very least, remove the air silencer.

-- You've got a shift kit and gears. If you have some money to waste get a ratchet shifter. Gives you better control and makes it easier to shift manually.

-- Underdive pullies are good for a few HP and are cheap.

-- If you know what you're doing, get a set of GT-4o heads and an intake manifold from an old Ford Explorer. Those are much better than stock and will give you some decent ponies.

those are just a few ideas.. I have plenty more, lol. It all depends on your budget. How much are you looking to spend and over what period of time?

I would spend about $300 for right now.
Summit Shorty Headers $99
Summit Offroad H-pipe $115
Advanced timing from 10 degrees to 16 degrees $FREE
Cold Air Intake from eBay $60

Total Price = $274 and it will give you some decent gains for the price.

Exactly. Just go to summitracing.com and you'll see them listed under the 94/95 Mustangs. I;ve been running them awhile now and love them. We're not talking ceramic LTs or anything, but they're better than stock.
