Default Clay Bar

I am about to detail the car and clay bar it. Anyone have any techniques that they use to get the best results? Thanks.

Just follow the instructions on the box.
I clay bared my Elantra in the spring and the results were great.
The clay bar gets alot of crap out of the paint.

You will need to wax the car after using the clay bar.

I have used Mothers and Meguiars, (I like Meg better) but I have also heard that "Clay Magic" is th best.

Make sure the area is sprayed down with the detailer real good.

If you drop the bar on the ground - discard it.

I like the Megs better because the bar is white and you can see all the crap that it has pulled off. Also the kit came with 2 bars, some spray, a microfiber towel, and some wax.

But its amazing to clay it and feel the difference as your rubbing the paint.

The clay bar even got paint from the yellow lines on the road off my dad's car.
Even paint thinner wouldnt get that crap off.

Ill definately use a clay bar again.

I believe the one I used was Clay Magic- it was blue.

Well I just got finished washing, clay baring, waxing, and detailing the car and it looks amazing! Yeah I had never done it, but all of your suggestions worked great. I used the Mothers Clay Bar Kit. It came with one yellow clay bar, the Instant detail (lube), and Mothers showroom finish detail wax. The cars paint has not looked so good since I have owned it.

I def. recommend using this technique if your paint is rough and needs a little help. It takes a little time, but it works wonders.

well what I normally do is, I will wash the car and hand dry and then i will polish it, i use all meguires products..polishing gets all the big particles off, then i go bigger than the area that it recommends just because its faster, and dont skimp on the spray or youll hurt the paint...I used mothers clay bar last time and it worked great...just be ready for some hurt hands by the time your done

Ok, you're done already but for future reference

The white bars that come in the autozone mother's and meguiars kits are very fine clay, basically for the weekend detailer, almost impossible to hurt your paint unless you really try...
those bars are fine for almost everything a well taken care of car will see in it's lifetime.

Clay magic makes a blue "fine" grade and a red "medium" grade,,, I've never had to use anything over medium grade.

I wash the car twice by hand, then clay bar the car, you don't have to use the quick wax if you don't like it, water works just fine, soapy water works even better. obviously nothing other than 100%cotton touches the paint, or the microfiber cloths, dry and then hand wax. or nano wax but it won't last as long, just make sure you get some kind of wax on there after you clay the car.

I really liked the quick wax for the lube, it worked flawlessly. I think the Mothers product is really good. Like I said I would def recommend it no question. Thanks for the tips though, it can really be helpful to some that are looking to do this.

I washed the car with Mothers Showroom Shine soap (What I always have used) then I dried with a chamey (sp?). Then I pulled the car into the garage out of the sun, and used the clay only doing a 2ft square at one time, then wiping it off. I continued all the way around the car hitting every panel. Then I went back over the car with the Mothers wax. The paint has never had such a flawless deep shine that it has now.
