Default cheapest engine rebuild

Can anyone give me a estimate of how much it would cost to rebuild a stock engine, my situation is this i have the engine out of the car and dissasembled id like to send it out to get it machined and cleaned and all that good stuff about roughly how much is it gonna run me to have the short block of the car done? i know there are a few missing factors and it varries but ball park estimate... oh and has anyone used a summit rebuilding kit are those any good?

with machine work and rebuild kit and gaskets and fluids..ect ect ...better figure at least 1000.00 and that takes into accout you will be assebbling it..otherwise figure more..

and its still basically a 302 306 same difference with 225 hp Lame... im really starting to like my ls1 car arrrg but i want my fox done......... and just driveable...

tough to say w. out seeing what your working with... doing the work yourself?... start taking it apart, checking everything as you go... assuming u know what to look for...

if its not gonna be a race car, and just a beater/daily, go w. summit ****... if its gonna make some power or see f/i or nitrous, dont go summit

more then likely a sunday cruiser but i wouldnt mind having some more power wouldnt we all... i just want the car done for cheap but still be reliable and have a nice kick to it... i have it down to the bare block basically if it comes out to more then like 1000 dollars i might as well save up another 700 dollars and get a stroker short block from a mailorder and build that up and just have the stock for a spare....
