Default heads????

ok heres the deal i have an 87 ttop gt and im currently building a 331.... but i cant stand not driving my car. so im putting an engine back in in order to get around, its gonna consist of a stock 89 bottom end w/ my f cam, edlebrock rpm II intake and some heads BUT!!!! i dunno what kind of heads to get just yet! keep in mind they're gonna be used on the 331 after its all done.. ive been hearing good things on different style heads like the brodix 5.0r's or the ffrp z304 heads rather than geettin what everyone else does like some tfs or edlebrocks...which are also GOOD dont get me wrong..... cant decide please help, any comments will help THANKS!!

those are a little much for a street 331 more so I'd use those on a wild 347......in an article this past month they did on those they built a motor similar to a ford racing 347 crate motor with those heads and an xe282 hr cam with 566/574 lift and a good intake and big carb and it made 478 hp at the crank......unless you plan to have all other supporting mods......I'd go with afr 185's and or rhs heads two really good set ups for a 331

Either which way you go its aight like Edelbrock, Trickflow, RHS, whatever.............for a 331 they will all work good as long as your not throwing the rpms past 6500

It should hold up just make sure you have a good balance and a well built bottom end.....but your cam choice will determine your rpm power band.....I'm using a xe282 hr and can take it close to 6800 no problem but anywhere over 7000 and you better have a tough bottom end and at that point you'd want to have an internal balance motor as for the 347 in the article it was just a standard 347 ford crate short block with frpp z304 heads ...xe282hr cam a single plane intake and race carb and 1 3/4 headers and all the proper valvetrain parts

Which Brodix heads? They do make some very good heads. AFr 185's or RHS 180's would work really nicely on a street 331.
