Vert mirrors on hatchback
Vert mirrors are mounted to the door skin unlike in the A-pillar on a hardtop.
If it was possible someone whould have to have custom glass or a cover made for the orignal mirror hole since vert doors dont work on a hardtop.

Which car are you asking about the 90?
Only on the 1989 - 93 maybe late 1988 I'm not 100% sure when the change took effect but it happen when the T-top cars stopped production.
And why won't vert doors work on a hardtop?

Yeah, I was looking at old pics of my car and started wondering what they would look like on a hard top.
Vert mirrors are on the door skin. So all I would have to do is cover the stock mounting point and tap a hole to mount the mirror.... all in theory, right? I think I like the subtle change.
Sorry for the crappy shots of my old foxes.

They dont have the upper frame. Granted you could cut and splice and they will work but they wont work without doing that kinda of work.

83 - 88 Convertibles and 81 - 87/88 T-Tops use the exact same doors as hardtop Mustangs. Both conversions where out-sourced to Cars & Concepts for the conversions. There the frames where removed from the doors and a few other changes to the door where made to re-enforce them. During this time they retained the same factory mirrors on all models. Starting with the 1989 model year (maybe some late production 88's) the T-Tops where gone and a newer look was given to the convertibles. The same doors where used except the frame including the mirror where removed, the window glass was longer to fill in where the old mirrors use to be. The new glass was given a slight curve and was also slightly repositioned in the door, I can only guess as to provide a better seal and to help stop the top of the window from pushing out at speed . The new mirrors where a stalk mount attached to the side of the body.
The curve of the glass is my only concern as far as getting a good seal on the hard top, but for the unique look of frame-less glass and the cool vert mirrors I'm willing to live with the possibility of a little wind noise and water leaks (like it rains so much here in AZ) gods know I did with my 83 vert!
LOL I may have to use this as part of the write up for my web site I started putting back together.
